Abstract
This study aims to investigate the situation of usage, user``s satisfaction, and the determinants of the use of Gyungrodang by rural elderly. Data from the first wave of ¡ºKorean Social Life, Health and Aging Project(KSHAP)¡» panel was used for analyzing 769 elderly over 60. The results showed that 68.5% of the respondents was using Gyungrodang and 90.9% of those who used it was satisfied. In terms of the determinants of the use of Gyungrodang, age, education, the size of family and job among the socio-demographic characteristics had statistically significant effects on using Gyungrodang. And depressive symptoms and cognitive function among the health factors and density among the social network factors showed statistically significant effects on using Gyungrodang by rural elderly. In other words, rural elderly who was younger, who had higher level of education, who had more family members, who had no job, who had higher level of depressive symptoms, who had lower cognitive function, who was positioned in the lower social network density showed less possibility of using Gyungrodang than their counterparts. Implications for paying more attention to the non-users of Gyungrodang in rural areas and for promoting more leisure activities were suggested.
